Time to ‘Suit’ up!!

Lace jacket on far left by Nanette Lepore

Lace jacket on far left by Nanette Lepore

If you haven’t been watching USA’s amazing new summer show, Suits, then you are missing out!

Forget the witty dialogue and great premise; really, I’m in for the amazing fashion!!  The main male character, played by the oh-so-yummy Gabriel Macht, appears in a different perfectly tailored Tom Ford suit every episode.  And the main female character, the lovely Gina Torres, always has something fabulous to wear to the office.

Last week’s episode saw a guest character in the divine lace blazer by Nanette Lepore… which you can conveniently pick up at Dimensions.  This jacket is a fantastic way to bring a little femininity into the board room – the lace brings a soft touch to the power suit lines.

With lady-like dressing all the rage this season, what better way to incorporate the trend into your suits?

Minnie Rose: now at Dimensions!

Brittany Spears spotted in the Minnie Rose ruffle shawl

Brittany Spears spotted in the Minnie Rose ruffle shawl

A fabulous new line just arrived at Dimensions in the form of Minnie Rose sweaters.  The cashmere is butter soft, and the cotton blend tees have a perfect fit.

Started just 5 years ago, Minnie Rose has quickly become a leader among American luxury knit wear.  Her signature piece – the cashmere ruffle shawl – already blew out of our store in black.  Not to fret… it’s arriving back in our store in black, grey, and white (pictured on Brittany Spears here).

My personal favorite?  The bordeaux, drape neck poncho… love the color and the fit.  But you’ll have to stop by Dimensions for a look!

Finley Moll and Heather McNeill

Finley Moll and Heather McNeill

There is nothing better than a crisp, clean button-down shirt.  For women, though, it can be a little hard to find a structured shirt that isn’t utterly boring.

Enter the ladies behind Finley Shirts: Finley Moll and Heather McNeill.  They’ve made it their personal mission to provide stylish and sophisticated shirting for the modern woman.

With an eye for detail, fabric, and print, these ladies started their company right here in Texas (Dallas, to be exact) and all of their product is still manufactured here.

Get a chance to meet half of this dynamic team on Thursday, August 18.  Heather McNeill is making a special guest appearance in our store to discuss her fabulous line of shirts, as well as preview some of the great styles coming later this season.

What you need for Fall 2011

  • Color Block dress by Muse, handbag by High Fashion

Color Block dress by Muse, handbag by High Fashion

Color-blocking… best utilized in the dress form, color-blocking is a great way to snazz-up a boring LBD.  The blocks of color are great for emphasizing shape and creating an interesting visual.

  • Poncho… one of my favorite trends this season, the poncho is a great addition to any wardrobe.  Hooded is really the way to go, but you can find a variety of applications.  While Luii makes a great jacket-slash-poncho (see the Color My Happy blog post), the most common form this season is the sweater.
  • Bordeaux… burgundy, ruby, crimson.  Deep reds are THE color this fall.  Everything from sweaters to dresses, this color range brightens up the sometimes drab fall color schemes.  Even if you simply incorporate it as a shell under your grey or black jacket, the vibrancy really perks up any outfit.
  • Fur… we know, we know – it’s Houston and hotter than Hades.  But the great thing about this trend is a little goes a long way.  Pick up a jacket with a little fur trim, or just a fur vest, to get the look without the insulation factor.
  • Lady-like Dressing… it’s nice to see a little more feminine items available, and the soft blouses and long skirts really give a sophisticated look to this season (read more about this here).
